I went to 孔庙 by myself today. It just goes to show how important education is to the Chinese people...

Had my first Chinese lesson with the Frontiers School today.

I went to an early morning mass at 东堂 today. I was amazed to find so many people in the church at 6:30am. Most of them were elderly folks, but there were quite a few younger people coming in and out of the church for a quick prayer before work/school.
The inside of the church was pretty neat, but it's nothing compared to the facade.

We went to the Forbidden City in the afternoon. You weren't too excited about the visit because of the amount of tourists there, and I thought the palace looked a lot nicer in the winter. But, we still took quite a few pictures because it's a very impressive palace nonetheless.
At night, we watched the China premiere of 童梦情真 at the movie theater in 东方广场 and saw Andy Lau, Karen Lee, and the other stars of the movie in person. There were lots of people, and we felt cheated because we actually didn't get to see the mini press conference, even though we paid a lot for the tickets.

We went to BeiHai Park today. It's a pretty nice park, but the Taoist temple (the main attraction) was under construction, so we didn't get to see it.
We discovered there's a imperial cuisine restaurant in the park. Let's hope we can find 7 people try the imperial cuisine with me.

This is the first time I celebrated Moon Festival away from my family... We had afternoon tea with your high school friends at Intercontinental. Afterwards, we hanged with Siu Heng and 小花 at the HK Google office before having dinner. We were supposed to meet up with the rest of your high school friends after dinner, but they all ended up doing something else. Siu Heng brought us on a tour of HK university, and 小花 let us into a computer lab to use the Internet. And, just for the fun of it, we played with the paper lanterns we bought from Park 'n Save before we left the campus.

Tonight's the night before the Moon Festival. Since it's supposed to rain tomorrow night, we went to Victoria's Park to check out the giant lanterns there. They are the largest lanterns I've ever seen in my life. It's too bad our camera couldn't capture the grandness of the lanterns.

We got to 絕色 at 10am for hair and make-up with 張老師. She was amazing! But, it wasn't until around noon that we were ready for our first session. 在哥 was our photographer. He seemed really cranky in the early afternoon, but his mood gradually improved. The entire photo shoot didn't end until 9:30 at night. Although smiling and trying to look good is very tiring, we weren't nearly as exhausted as we thought we would be. To reward ourselves, we treated ourselves to小龍湯包 to end the day.

After one day of relaxation, we moved to 天成, which is near 台北車站. Our first mission of the day was to go to 絕色 to choose the outfits for the photo shoot. I spent 3 hours getting in and out of various gowns, then we went to 中正紀念堂. The highlight of the day was chowing down snacks in 士林夜市: 青蛙下蛋, garlic sausage, 上海生煎包, 河粉煎, 臭豆腐. We ate so much that you actually got a tummy ache at the end of the night.

Today is the first day of our trip to Taiwan. We stayed at 水美in the 新北投 district. The hotel is elaborately decorated, and we enjoyed hotspring in the privacy of our room.

Today's our 3rd year anniversary, and you took me to the Yu restaurant at Intercontinental Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui to celebrate. You also gave me diamond earrings as the anniversary gift. :)

I went to the museum of art today because all the museums are free on Wednesday. I really enjoyed the modern Chinese art section. The piece done by 徐冰 (天书) is particularly interesting. It has many scrolls and binded books that are covered with ancient words that are real, but archaic. I took it as a presentation of how words can be pretty but meaningless if we take the background and context from them. I'm sure he has a much deeper meaning behind this piece, but what do I know? I'm not a Fine Art major.

I took long walks around Shan Wan and Central today. This is one of the Hong Kong cultural walks, and I think the highlight of the day was seeing shops and shops completely filled with different kinds of shark fins, bird nests, and dried goodies that are way too overpriced.

After four days of fun, you've started working today. Thanks to being jetlagged, you, the archetypical night owl, actually got to work around 8:30-ish. And, while you were work, I did some self-study, took piano lessons from your mom, and walked around the various touristsy places in HK.

We have had about enough of wedding planning after just 3 days of it, so we followed the a little tour book to ShaTin today. We went to:
It's really amazing how there are still people living in "traditional" style in 曾大屋, which is really a village.
- Snoopy's World
- Heritage Museum
- 曾大屋
- 車公廟

Today's our one-day tour in Shatin. We went to Snoopy's World, Heritage Museum, CheGongMiao, and Cheung's House. It's interesting to see the older side of Hong Kong as so long of it has ben wiped away for the sake of urbanization. (Although... given the living condition I've seen, I can't believe there are still people living in Cheung's House.)
