We went to Sequoia National Park with the Arkers people over the Memorial Day weekend. It was very much like Yosemite. On Saturday we left in the morning and got there around noon. We toured the park a bit and visited a cave, which was similar to the one we went to in Guilin but smaller. On the second day and third day we did some hiking and sightseeing. There were a lot of old and huge trees in the park, and one of them is over 2000 years old.

We went to another house hunting trip, but this time it was quite fruitless. Nevertheless that afternoon we dropped by the First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto and was impressed by the interior at first sight. It would very likely be our top choice for wedding.

You got two humongous bug bites on your forearm. I was worried that you'd get an infection from them, but thank goodness you're fine now.

We went house shopping on our own after church. After driving around the North Valley area, we realize finding another house that fits our criteria in that area isn't THAT terribly hard.

We went to Tomales Bay Oyster Company for another Oyster BBQ trip today. We took Sir Francis Drake instead of Highway 1, so the drive wasn’t nearly as bad as last time. And, the oysters are yummy as usual. 

After about 3 hours of barbequing, we went for a walk on the Tomales Bay trail. Not much has changed since the last time we were there, but an interesting incident happened on our way back. A large herd of cows migrated down the hill and blocked our paths. We were scared in the beginning, but decided to move forward by circumventing them.

We did something that we had never done together before – we vegetated in front of the TV and watched 5 hours of Korean video! The name of the series is Dae Jang Geum, and it’s a story about the first female royal physician in the Korean royal house. Jang Geum is a real historic figure, but of course the TV series has dramatized the plot. Anyway, we really enjoyed the show, and I’m still hopelessly hooked on it.

First time in a month, finally we got a chance to have a restful and relaxing weekend. We went hiking at Mission Peak in Fremont to celebrate Brenda's birthday. In the evening, we went to a restaurant in SF with your family to celebrate Mother's Day. The restaurant was famous for crabs, but the dinner was spoiled a bit because of the rudeness of the waitress.

Unfortunately we were outbidden on the house. There was a (probably) deparate buyer who bid significantly higher than us. We were disappointed and exhausted, and both of us took the following day off and rested at home.

We decided to bid on the house we saw on Sunday, so we went to Mark's office to sign the bidding documents. It was our first time bidding on a house, and both of us were nervous and excited.

Mark took us on a house shopping trip again. This time he prepared 12 houses, in Santa Clara, North Valley, and Milpitas. The 4th one we went to, a 2000 sq ft 4 bedrooms townhouse in North Valley, interested us a lot. It is 12 years old already, but very nicely kept. It matched about 95% of what we are looking for in house: high ceiling, formal dinning room, hardwood floor in the living room, white carpet, a very spacious master bedroom, etc. We were so excited that the rest of the trip was kind of useless.
