Fa-Piao Lottery Prize: 10 RMB
I've been very insistent in getting a fa-piao for all meals because I love trying my luck on the little scratch-and-win panel on these little tickets. The Beijing government invented the fa-piao system to better track the taxable income of restaurants, and to encourage people to request for the fa-piao to create a paper trail, the lottery was added. And, that tactic has clearly worked on me. While I have never gotten anything substantial, getting a little 10 or 20 rmb here and there does brighten up my day. :)

I decided to be nice and let you stay in bed instead of dragging you to church for the 11am service. BUT… somehow we managed to be late even for the 2pm service… The pastor was pretty good. When everythings seems to go wrong, the feelings of God abandoning us is real. BUT, we can't always go with our feelings or logic. Just because we feel like God has left us or can't logically explain why God exists doesn't mean He isn't by our side. Moving on in faith is even more important when times are hard.
You got a hair cut, and I had a hair treatment at the hair salon near your office after church. After that, we went on a shopping spree at 西單...

We woke up late as usual… but had a very full day nonetheless.
1:30 西單翅酷 near 當代商城. It's pertty obscure, so it took a while for us to find the place. But, it was well worth it coz the skewers were really good!
3:30 Arrived at 恭王府 after much traffic. This was a mansion owned by a royal family member. I was told that the place was basically reconstructured before it was reopned in August 2008. (Yes, of course in August 08. What else did you expect?)
5:00 Walked along Shichahai
6:40 Finally made it to 九門小吃. (We also discovered a nice restaurant called 紅邸.)
7:45 Went to Luce for dinner, only... we weren't very hungry after all the snacks, so we left after having appetizers.
9:15 Shopped at 家樂福
10:00 Foot massage at 良子. It felt SO good after walking around all day...
All times above are in the PM of course.... there isn't such a thing as getting him out of bed before noon when we're in Beijing.

Decided to start filling out the blog again coz we're bound to forget the details very soon…. It's always nice to have something to go back to when we want to refresh our memories

We watched the Sarah Brightman concert together. She has a very lovely voice, and the theatrical effects are great. Too bad we were too cheap to get the more expensive center seats.

You took the deal to go to chruch with me on Sunday in exchange for going to the poker party today. The only thing is that it was much of a party. Charlie's wife babysat the kids, while you and 2 other guys played for hours. I had expected much more people there. After being bored fhe whole afternoon, we had dinner with Kwun and her friends because she is visitng Beijing for a few days. We tried to to to "East Shore" (jazz bar in Houhai) for drinks after dinner, but the place was super packed. Yukuan took us to "Club 31", but I didn't feel too well from the long walk in the cold.

You came back to Beijing from your biz trip to the States. To make up for your birthday, I finished writing up all the birthday cards and littered your study with all 30 cards. I ran out of stuff to say for some of your childhood years, so I just put in major world events. I also got you some ice cream and a papaya.
